1. Scope and who we are
This Privacy Policy applies to the imstt iPhone and iPad app (the “App”), developed and provided by DCMA Technology Limited (“we”, “us”, or “our”). imstt turns audio or text you choose into saved transcripts and translations.
2. Information stored on your device
imstt stores imported audio, shared text, transcripts, translations, message titles, source labels, timestamps, languages, starred status, processing status, and related error messages in the App’s private storage. It also stores your default languages, on-device speech preference, and identifiers used to avoid importing the same shared item twice.
The iOS share extension temporarily places a chosen item in the App Group inbox. After the main App stores it successfully, imstt removes that temporary inbox copy.
3. Speech recognition
On-device speech recognition is enabled by default. In this mode, imstt requires a language and device configuration that Apple supports for on-device recognition and does not silently switch to online processing.
If you turn off “On-device speech only” and confirm the warning, audio may be sent to Apple for speech recognition. Apple controls that processing under its privacy policy. You can return to on-device-only recognition in imstt Settings and manage Speech Recognition permission in iOS Settings.
4. Language identification and translation
imstt uses Google ML Kit’s on-device language identification and translation components. The transcript is processed on your device. An internet connection is required when a language model needs to be downloaded; model-download requests are handled by Google and the operating system under Google’s privacy policy and Apple’s policies.
5. Copying and sharing
When you choose Copy, imstt places the selected text on the system clipboard. When you choose Share, imstt passes the selected transcript to the iOS share sheet. The recipient or service you choose then handles that content under its own terms and privacy policy.
6. Permissions and file access
imstt requests Speech Recognition permission when you transcribe audio. The current App does not request camera, photo-library, microphone, contacts, location, notification, or App Tracking Transparency permission. The system file picker and share sheet only provide the items you select.
7. Accounts, analytics, advertising, and tracking
The App does not require an account. Builds with Google services include Google AdMob banner ads and optional Google Analytics for Firebase. We do not operate a server that receives your audio, transcripts, or translations, and we do not send their contents, message titles, filenames, or message identifiers to these advertising or analytics services.
Optional analytics. Usage analytics is off by default. If you enable “Share usage analytics” in Settings, Google receives screen usage and SDK-generated app interactions, app/device information, installation identifiers, and diagnostics to help us understand usage. With your analytics choice enabled, Firebase Analytics reports may be shared with our linked Google AdMob account for combined usage and advertising reporting. Analytics advertising-ID and vendor-ID collection are disabled, and analytics ad personalization and advertising-data consent are denied. You can turn analytics off in Settings at any time; this stops future collection and resets the local analytics identifier. It does not automatically erase data already processed by Google.
Advertising. AdMob may process IP address, app/device information, advertising interactions, and diagnostic information to deliver ads, prevent fraud, and measure performance. The App requests non-personalized ads and does not request App Tracking Transparency permission. Non-personalized ads still involve data processing. Google’s consent form is shown where required before ads can load; use “Ad privacy choices” in Settings where available to change your choices.
Google processes this information under its privacy policy; see how Google uses information from partner apps. Provider processing may occur outside your country. Google controls provider-side retention according to its policies and the service settings. The App has no payment, subscription, or separate crash-reporting integration.
8. Retention and your choices
Saved items remain in the App’s private storage until you delete the message or remove the App and its data. Deleting a message removes its app-owned audio, transcript, and translation, but does not remove the original from the source conversation, undo a share you initiated, delete provider-side processing, or remove older device backups.
Device backups and operating-system services are controlled by Apple and may retain data under Apple’s policies. Because imstt has no user account or content server, we cannot retrieve or remotely delete content stored only on your device.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when imstt, its data handling, or legal requirements change. We will revise the date on this page when we do.
