Frequently asked questions
How do I import a voice message?
Use Share, Forward, or More in the source app and choose imstt. If no share option is available, save or export the audio to Files and use Import audio in imstt.
Why is transcription unavailable?
Check that Speech Recognition is allowed for imstt and that the selected language supports on-device recognition. You can choose another language or opt into Apple’s online speech recognition in Settings.
Why does translation need the internet?
Translation itself runs on your device, but the required language models must download before first use. Connect to the internet, retry, and keep enough device storage available.
What audio can I import?
Imports are limited to 50 MB and transcription to ten minutes. Common audio containers are accepted, but actual decoding support depends on iOS. M4A or WAV is the safest fallback.
Can imstt read my chats?
No. imstt only receives the audio or text you explicitly share or import. It cannot inspect conversations or retrieve unshared messages.
